Okay, time to return to the other half of this blog's title and start listing movies again. When I last posted on movies, it was July of 2005, so I've got quite a bit of catching up to do. Because memories fade, commentary may be sparse for a while. (Also, I'm lazy.)

• Rear Window. Man, Hitchcock was an amazing director. This movie may well be perfect.
  
• Dr. Strangelove, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.
  
• Blazing Saddles.
  
• Mystery Science Theater 3000: Prince of Space. The Japanese movies that got the MST3K treatment are among my favorite. They're just so incredibly strange.
  
• Serenity. This is a great movie, and I really wish it had done well enough to warrant a sequel.
  
• The 2005 H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival, where I saw shorts blocks 1 & 2 and
  
• The Forbidden Quest about which I remember nothing. I also saw
  
• Cast a Deadly Spell. Noir mixed with fantasy, with a healthy dollop of Lovecraft.
  
• Mirrormask. A visually fascinating little fantasy movie with a great Neil Gaiman script. Dave McKean definitely put his stamp on the film. Large parts of the movie look exactly like his art brought to life.
  
• Rodan. This, as well as the following 3 movies were the selections for Steve's 2005 Halloween Horror Movie Fest.
  
• Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter. I think the title tells you everything you need to figure out whether or not you want to see this movie. I did. I was not disappointed.
  
• Shawn of the Dead.
  
• The Haunting.
  
• The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (Extended Edition). We had owned the DVD for nearly a year before we finally watched this.
  
• Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.
  
• Ghost in the Shell. I'm glad I started watching the GitS TV series before seeing this movie. I think the series is great. But if I'd seen this first, I doubt I would have given the show a chance.
  
• The Last Unicorn. It had been so long since I read the book that I could not remember a damn thing about the story. This is one of Teena's favorites from when she was a kid.
  
• Toys.
  
• The Ice Harvest.
  
• The Tick: The Complete Series. Damn Fox for not giving this a chance.
  
• Godzilla: Final Wars.
  
• Mystery Science Theater 3000: Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.
  
• Mystery Science Theater 3000: Santa Claus.
  
• Good Night, and Good Luck.
  
• It's a Wonderful Life.
  
• Elf.
  
• The Prisoner. This is my absolutely favorite television program. I really need to finish getting the DVDs someday. (I taped all 17 episodes off a PBS station about 15 years ago, but those tapes are going to wear out sooner or later.)
  
• Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

It may take me less time than I thought to get caught up. I have finished with 2005. I'll try to say more the next time I list movies.
